The creature that Americans call BigFoot is but one of a group of similar mythological bigfoot creatures that people around the world have reported as being seen. All these creatures have a remarkable resemblance to each other. Some of the other names given these creatures are: Sasquatch in Canada(and Alaska), Yeti in Asia, Mapinquari, or mapiquari in South America, and Yowie in Australia. Almost every different nation or language group in Asia has its own name for these creatures. All of the sightings report a hairy bipedal creature, somewhat apelike in appearance walking upright. Most scientists debunk the idea that such a creature could...or does exist. However, there are certain cryptozoologists who have left room for the possibility of its existence due to the available evidence.

Reports of a large, human like creature in the Himalayas of Tibet have been found as far back as 1832. The first reliable report of the Yeti creature appeared in 1925 when a Greek photographer working as a member of a British geological expedition in the Himalayas, was shown a creature moving in the distance across some lower slopes. The creature was almost a thousand feet away in a area with an altitude of around 15,000 feet. There are no definitions about what a Yowie actually is, other than a hairy man type creature somewhat like mythological bigfoot that resides in the forests of Australia. Guessing is a fun activity in this field of research but has little to do with what the Yowie is. It could perhaps be the last surviving Gigantopithecus or maybe a Species of Australopithecine it may also be something different. Whatever the Yowie may be, there is far too much evidence to support that the Yowie does infact exist, rather than it does not.
